Huhtamäki Oyj has
sold its rigid plastic production unit in Roodekop, South Africa, to
Polyoak Packaging (Pty) Ltd. The annual net sales of the unit is some
EUR 5 million and it currently employs some 55 people. The sold unit
serves the local edible fats and dairy markets and has dedicated
injection molding assets.
"This transaction
supports Huhtamaki's strategic review of rigid plastic consumer goods
operations", says Huhtamäki Oyj's CEO Jukka Moisio. "We will continue
to supply the South African market in a number of segments including
foodservice, molded fiber and flexible packaging. We also continue
production at our three remaining units in South Africa."
